CHERRY DATE ROLL

2 c. evaporated milk
4 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butteror margerine
1 lb. pitted dates
1/4 lb. candied cherries
1 lb. pecans chopped
powdered sugar


Combine milk and sugar; cook until thickened. Add butter, stirring constantly until soft ball stage. Add dates; cook until dissolved and mixture is thick. Remove from heat; add cherries and pecans. Beat until it hardens. Roll on a damp cloth into a long roll. Let stand until hard. Roll in powdered sugar. Cut as desired. Yield: 5 to 6 lbs.
